Poundland Beauty Haul

This morning, I took a trip to Poundland to see what was on offer in the beauty department. Last time I went, I got some lovely Rimmel London make up which was a real treat, so I tried hard not to set my expectations too high as it was unlikely that they would have such good things again!

There wasn’t really much make up in store today, but that didn’t stop me buying 5 items at a total cost of just £5. Continue reading

Look Fantastic Beauty Box – February 2015

I am huge fan of Look Fantastic, I buy so many products from them. They launched a beauty box in the autumn of 2014, and I tried it for the first time last month. I have to confess that I loved the January box so much that I ended up purchasing two of them! I was so into Nuxe face mask and the Philips Kingsley product and it was cheaper to buy another beauty box than to go out and buy the products individually. Continue reading

Spring Cleaning

If you need some inspiration to have a spring clean of your make up and skincare products then you need to read this post!

It’s so cold outside at the moment, I just want to stay inside and be cosy. I found myself   at home with my young daughter on Sunday and it seemed a good time to give one of my drawers containing my beauty products a spring (or winter) clean. This drawer contains mainly samples and things I have got for free together with my spares. From time to time I do a clear out of the old stuff and chuck it away, however, I was so surprised by what I found in there at the weekend, so much so that I felt the need to share it! Read on…. Let’s talk about Trish McEvoy

Over the coming months, as my blog grows, it will become no secret to you that my favourite make up brand is Trish McEvoy. I love to explore and experiment with other brands but at the end of the day I always come back to Trish. I can’t help it.

Trish McEvoy is a US based beauty brand, founded by Trish when she was a 25 year old make up artist. Her husband is a dermatologist and so they form a very convenient partnership. I’ve tried many of her skincare products and I have to say they are very impressive too. She has made up many Hollywood stars and her aim is to empower women everywhere to look beautiful.

I went to a session that she led at Harvey Nichols recently and it was evident how passionate she was about making women look beautiful and teaching them the proper make up techniques, it was also very clear how connected she is to her brand. If you go to a Trish McEvoy counter (it is sold in Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and Liberty in the UK) one of the things you will be offered is a make up lesson. The staff don’t only want to demonstrate their products but they want to make sure you go away knowing exactly what to do with them.

Trish’s method is all about simplicity and organisation, she sells make up planners which include all the products (except foundation) to create several looks (and are convenient if you travel a lot!). The planner includes a page system to insert your blushers, powders and eye-shadow and this helps your make up look tidy and clutter free. The planners make it so much easier for the confused customer bombarded with products. Not only that but in the make up planner is included step by step instructions on how to do your make up and all the possible looks, daytime, evening etc… Isn’t that just exactly what we all want?
